how much does a share cost?

For the 2019 season, we offer 2 share options: a half share costs $500 (enough for 1-2 people), a full share costs $800 (enough for 3-4 people). Our season runs from mid-June to early November, subject to Mother Nature. Shares are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

what does a share include?

Each week, members will choose from a wide variety of vegetables and herbs. All of the available items are cleaned, sorted and presented in a way that makes it easy for members to make their selections. Members may also purchase our own eggs, flowers and Saltbox Farm honey (when available) during their weekly pickup. Members also receive a weekly newsletter with a list of produce to expect, farm updates, and recommended recipes to try at home. We also offer members-only programs such as our annual hop harvest, weeding parties, member potluck, canning workshops and regular meditation sessions on the farm. In addition, members may receive discounts to special events such as our annual Summer Farm Dinner. Last, members also have exclusive access to purchase our own cuts of lamb raised at Saltbox Farm.

When and where do I pick up my share?

Pickup is out of the Barn at Saltbox Farm on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1-6pm and Saturdays from 9-12. Members will bring their reusable bag, provided as part of their membership, to fill with the produce and herbs that are available that week. As a bonus, members will also have the option to head up to the fields and pick some of their own vegetables at our designated U-Pick section. We will provide members with a farm map and a tour during our orientation prior to the start of the harvest season. In addition, when available, our own flowers, eggs, and honey will be in the barn for purchase during distribution.

Is U-Pick required?

All of the produce grown in our U-Pick section of the fields are "out of bag" bonuses and as such are not a requirement for your membership, although we highly encourage you to enjoy the farm as much as possible. If you are physically limited and unable to pick, but would like to, we will pick for you. Just let us know in advance and we will assign a picking assistant.

Will my share be held over the next day if I cannot make my day's pickup?

We understand that emergencies occur. However, we hope that since we are offering 3 days each week for pickup, that our members will be able to come to one of those days each week. In the event that you cannot make your pick-up, please email us as soon as possible.

What if I'm going on vacation. Can I have a friend pick up my share?

If you will be out of town, we encourage you to send a friend or neighbor to pick up your share in your place. You do not need to let us know if someone else will be picking up. Please just let us know if you cannot pick up for a particular week. Please just make sure whomever you send has complete instructions on how distribution works as outlined in your handbook and for them to introduce themselves to the staff member onsite who will assist them in checking off your name and fill their bags.
