Every year, Saltbox Farm looks forward to the opportunity to teach future farmers skills passed down through the generations and to provide them with a place to learn about themselves with room for personal and spiritual growth. Through our apprenticeship program, we offer a hands-on learning experience, in which the farm becomes a living classroom, giving apprentices direct exposure to all aspects of running a community farm.
Throughout the season, apprentices will engage in the daily operation of the farm, learn maintenance of the fields, crops and livestock, engagement with our farm to table restaurant and CSA distribution. Alongside this work, they will also develop personal and career-related goals, participate in monthly check-ins, and attend bi-weekly Eastern Mass CRAFT (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training) meetings.
Farm Manager Mark Congdon will teach and mentor the apprentices, sharing all he has learned through many years of experience, as well as his own training as an apprentice at Caretaker Farm in Williamstown, MA.
To apply, please email a cover letter, resume and 3 references to Farm Manager, Mark Congdon at firstname.lastname@example.org.
